Nawal's is a hidden gem in Michigan! You must stop here for fresh, amazing food served with love by Nawal and her family. We enjoyed the gyro, kofta, potato salad and Turkish coffee. Everything tasted wonderful. And to top it off there is a beautiful selection of cupcakes, bread pudding, baklava and cookies. We even took some hummus and tabbouleh salad to go for our camping trip. And yes, the cupcakes are too die for!

Best food in Big Rapids! Great prices and Nawal is a wonderful chef and provides great services. Nawal even gives Ferris Students a college discount. Great local business to eat at.

I love this place! I was introduced to this place at work and have only got carry out. But, they are always very friendly and accommodating. I typically get a gyro and rice which has the perfect amount of meat and it is cooked well. It doesn't taste like fair food, but a really gyro. Her lemon chicken soup is one of the best soups I have ever had. I also have had their cupcakes. They are pricey, but they are worth it. Most of them are filled and the cake is super moist. I would love to actually sit down here and will one day.

Stopped by on the way south from the UP to visit a friend in Big Rapids, and was seriously impressed with this place. Long story short, fresh, homemade food, great cupcakes, nice people. There were three of us, and between us we had the fallafel, chicken schwarma, lentil soup, chicken soup, and the lamb gyro, plus cupcakes to go. Everything was freshly prepared, flavorful, and interesting. I am not a gyro person, but I had a bite of my friend's and it was not the typical crappy shaved meat you get at a lot of places. To an earlier reviewer's comment about the the soup - ours was fantastic. Obviously homemade and perfectly seasoned. The only note of complaint was the fallafel - overall, it was excellent, baked and not fried as many places do it, but it was a bit too salty. The cupcakes are out of this world. We had the margarita, pina colada, champagne, and chocolate mint and while all were good, the pina colada is likely the best cupcake I have ever had - moist, flavorful, and tasting exactly like a pina colada. Our friend told us service when they are busy can be a bit slow (everything is homemade, so understandable), but when we were there food came out promptly. The owner is delightful, and the service eager (if a little TOO helpful at times). The only reason I am deducting a star is they were out of two things we wanted to try. Highly recommended.

I am never disappointed with a stop to Nawal's. For one thing, I always get a friendly greeting and a little chat with Nawal. The Turkish coffee is a unique treat, strong and sweet. Her salad is so refreshing, her soup is unique. Falafel, shwarma (chicken or beef), gyro's, it's all delicious. The food is always made to order, so fresh and hot, and of course, delicious. It's hard to leave without a cupcake or some baklava to round off the meal, but you certainly don't need it, because the meal doesn't leave you hungry. Because everything is made fresh, make sure you have time to enjoy chatting with friends and savoring your meal.

Came in from the rain to meet a friend for lunch, and the Egyptian tea warmed me right up. Kofta came recommended from the waitress and was excellent! I always enjoy the cupcakes, but unless I'm taking them home I find that they're big enough to happily split.

First time visit. We wanted something sweet and we came to the right place! My wife had a coconut cupcake and I had the chocolate frosted cheesecake. Nasal the owner came by and chatted with us and the other customers. Not the cheapest bakery but well worth the visit. We'll be back.

Love Nawal's. Often stop by for cupcakes and tea. Nawal is always friendly and takes a personal interest in her customers. Her cafe has been a great place to hunker down for a warm meal during this neverending winter.

One of my favorite places to eat. Nawals always come out from the kitchen to see how your meal is and to see what else you need.

The gyro was good, I liked the dill sauce, however the soup was so bad we sent it back. It was the worst lentil soup I've ever had, no flavor and I think it was fermenting. Gordon Ramsey would be disgusted, I know I was. There were bubbles coming up from below. The replacement salad was good. Pricey for the combo at $7.99. I'll wait and eat Mediterranean at home or in Grand Rapids. Best of luck. Soup is not that expensive to make daily.
